Why Prestwold Hall is the Perfect Winter Wedding Venue

If you’re planning a winter wedding, chances are you’ve already been enchanted by the idea of a celebration that is cosy, candlelit and perhaps even Christmassy. The winter months are a magical time to get married, with the possibility of snow and darker evenings only adding to the frisson of party excitement! If you’re looking for the perfect winter wedding venue, we think Prestwold Hall will tick lots of boxes – here are a few reasons our Grade 1 listed Leicestershire stately home is the ideal setting for your winter wedding.

Winter wedding venue in Leicestershire

If you choose December to get married, you’re in for a treat at Prestwold Hall. Throughout the festive period the house is decorated for Christmas, with grand Christmas trees, wreaths and decorations adorning the interior. As far as winter wedding venues go, we think we’ve got you covered when it comes to festive decor! The added bonus of this is that you can spend less on styling and flowers for your wedding, since much of the house is already decked out for you. You can use this extra wiggle room in your budget for winter warmer favours for your guests, or perhaps have some extra entertainment throughout the day!

Roaring fireplaces at Prestwold Hall, making it the perfect cosy winter wedding venue near Leicester

Even after Christmas Prestwold is a great winter wedding venue, so if you’re planning a wedding that is wintry without being overly festive then we’ve got something for you too! Throughout January and February Prestwold’s many grand fireplaces will be lit, and you’ll feel like you’re living a period fantasy on the estate. You and your guests will be cosy and comfortable, making this the ideal place for an extended winter celebration. You might never want to leave your spot in front of the fire, but if you can tear yourself away you’ll be able to rest and relax in one of our individually decorated bedrooms with your nearest and dearest just down the hall. Stay cosy together and get your wedding off to a great start that is anything but frosty.

No winter wedding would be complete without some warming comfort food – wedding style, of course! Our talented head chef Marc Billings is on hand to provide a menu that you and your guests will love, from canapes to our after hours options. We have relationships with the best suppliers in the country for our catering, and even grow and prepare some ingredients on the estate (including smoking and curing meats!). You and your guests can relax and enjoy your dazzling selections, which can include elevated winter warmer dishes to make you feel like you’re at home away from home.

Magical festoon or fairy lighting can make your winter wedding venue even more magical, like this in our glasshouse at Prestwold Hall

Prestwold makes the ideal winter wedding venue not only for its finely decked interior and wonderful food, but for its rolling Wolds surroundings. Nestled only 20 minutes from Loughborough, the estate feels secluded and exclusive. If you’re lucky enough to get snow in the winter months, the gardens and grounds of the Hall are carpeted with fresh white flakes as far as the eye can see. There’s also the opportunity to include festoon or fairy lighting, bringing a magical glow to your winter wedding.

Take a look at our wedding gallery, which includes some wonderful images of Prestwold in the snow and decorated for Christmas! We can’t wait to welcome you to the Hall with a wedding welcome that is warm, cosy and inviting.
