Our indoor wedding ceremonies are held in Prestwold Hall’s Library, providing an impressive backdrop for a day you’ll remember forever.
Before the ceremony
You’ll be able to relax from the moment you arrive at Prestwold Hall, with plenty of private and comfortable places for the happy couple to prepare before exchanging their vows.
The Dressing Room is the perfect place for the wedding party to get ready and enjoy a glass of champagne. This spacious and luxurious room is filled with light, making it perfect for photographers to capture those getting ready shots.
The House Bar is the perfect spot for pinning on buttonholes and sharing a toast before the wedding. Open from 11am, the vintage-inspired bar features sophisticated décor reminiscent of a 1920s gentleman’s club.

Your indoor wedding
The Library is our licensed space for indoor wedding ceremonies. Opening onto the Drawing Room and extending almost the entire length of the house, Prestwold Hall’s Library offers an awe-inspiring setting for your wedding ceremony.
Make your grand entrance through our enchanting Orangery and join your loved one in front of the fireplace to come together in marriage. With floor-to-ceiling windows that look out across the Estate, the Library is spacious, airy and full of natural light, making it an ideal wedding venue.
The Library combines opulent wooden floors and bookcases with a modern yet sophisticated colour scheme that echoes the gorgeous gardens outside. While the grandeur of Prestwold Hall is undeniable, there’s also plenty of opportunity to add your own floral arrangements and decorations to make the space unique to you.
After the ceremony
Prestwold Hall is only available for exclusive hire, so you can celebrate with your loved ones in seclusion and privacy.
As well as use of the private Library for your ceremony and reception, you’ll also have access to the entire house for your special day, including the Estate’s gardens, offering a perfect space for canapés, photos and entertainment.
Prestwold Hall is a beautiful and flexible wedding venue that is able to transform seamlessly to accommodate you and your guests for your civil ceremony and the ensuing celebration with your guests.
History of the Library
Prestwold Hall was remodelled by architect William Burn in 1842, who wanted to highlight the grandeur of the house through the popular neoclassical style.
One of the ways in which he achieved this was through clever use of constructional steel, which allowed him to create the large, impressive rooms that you can find at Prestwold Hall today. The Library extends nearly the entire length of the house when the grand doors that separate it from the Dining Room are opened, connecting the two rooms.
Prestwold Hall was designed in the style of an Italian classical villa and, as such, Burn installed the magnificent windows that rise from floor level and open onto the garden.
The ornate wooden doors and bookcases in the Library were made for George Hussey Packe (1846–1908) by furniture makers Gillows of Lancaster and London in 1875.

For those who prefer the sanctity and romance of a church wedding, the Prestwold Estate is home to the 13th century Church of St Andrew.
